Water source

Sufficient clean water is required to use an irrigation system efficiently for lawn irrigation. The most common source is a mains supply or well. Another option is a rainwater tank. The volume of such a tank must be designed taking into account the size of the area to be irrigated. However, the problem is to collect rainwater in sufficient quantity and quality. For this reason a well or mains water supply should be used for lawn irrigation.

How does an automatic irrigation system work?

The irrigation system is controlled by a control unit that triggers the automatic irrigation and works in conjunction with a rain sensor. If it rains, the rain sensor temporarily prevents the irrigation from starting. PRO-HC units use weather stations and allow remote management from a mobile phone or tablet.

For irrigation of grassy areas, pull-out sprinklers are used. There is a wide range of HUNTER sprayers. Each type of lawn sprinkler has different performance or pull-out height. The spray radius ranges from 0.6 to 22m, depending on the sprayer type.

Ornamental flower beds and shrub plantings are irrigated by various forms of micro-irrigation, in particular by drip piping.

Installation of the irrigation system

Ideally irrigation is installed in conjunction with landscaping work, thus saving you the most time when setting up a garden. The installation itself starts with machine digging of trenches for the pipes and pits for the distribution shafts. Then the actual installation of the piping is carried out, followed by the flushing system. Subsequently, the sprinklers are mounted and the respective nozzles fitted. Construction readiness

The automatic irrigation system should be considered during the construction period or before landscaping. We recommend that you consult with us in advance where it will be necessary to prepare trenches for pipes, electricity and cabling under pavements, paving, etc. The financial costs of such preparation are negligible and thus avoid any problems during installation that could lead to expensive preparation work.

Irrigation systems can also be installed in an existing garden with an existing lawn.

The service life of an automatic irrigation system depends primarily on correct design and installation, on water purity and on ensuring professional wintering. The service life of the system is then tens of years.

Overwintering

In autumn, the system needs to be drained to prevent the pipes from freezing and cracking during the cold winter months. Drainage of irrigation is done by compressed air using a compressor.
